A local imgexport wrote the bundle to the current working directory and kept only the file name of the destination, so a destination such as /backup/images/compute.tgz went to ./compute.tgz. A destination in a missing directory failed only after the image was copied. imgexport now writes the bundle to the destination, and takes a relative path from the current working directory. It checks the directory before it copies the image. tar and scp take the path as an argument without a shell, so a path with a space works.
