release_lock removes the lock file before it unlocks it. A process that waited in acquire_lock then held a lock on a file without a name, while a third process created a new file at the path and locked it too. Both ran at once, for example two imports, or an import and a kit command. acquire_lock now checks that the file that it locked is the one at the path, and tries again when it is not. lock_dir returns the directory of the lock files.
